Stata is a general-purpose statistical software package created in 1985 by StataCorp. Most of its users work in research, especially in the fields of economics, sociology, political science, biomedicine and epidemiology.

Purchasing Stata at a Discount

The University of Arizona does have a purchase plan with Stata at a discounted price.

Available to: Faculty and Grad Students

Faculty and graduate students interested in purchasing Stata should follow these steps:

  • Go to the Stata Grad Plan Method 3 website at
  • Purchase the desired type of Stata that you want. If you are not familiar with the different kinds of Stata, you can find some information by clicking here and then scrolling down to the bottom.
  • You will be sent an email from Stata with instructions on how to pick up your software. The software is stocked at the Arizona Cancer Research Center.

Health Sciences Library Computer Lab with Stata Software

Computers are available first-come, first-served for Health Sciences and Banner affiliates who have a NetID, or individuals searching for health resources. 

Computers have all the basics (Office Suite, browsers, media players), plus statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, SAS and EndNote.
